GBAO is seeking a research assistant to join its team. With headquarters in Washington D.C., GBAO is a progressive, public opinion research firm offering expertise in survey research and strategic communication to clients including Democratic candidates, campaign committees, issue organizations, non-profits, and labor unions.
The research assistant will play a key supporting role on projects for top political campaigns and influential organizations and institutions. Through this work, the research assistant will gain fluency in political polling and develop the hard skills required to manage strategic research.
- Assisting with the organization and execution of research projects, including surveys and focus groups
- Ensuring quality control of the research process, including survey design testing and live research monitoring
- Conducting background research on local, state, national, and international campaigns and initiatives that focus on a range of political, cultural, and economic issues
- Proofreading and editing of documents and data products such as questionnaires, memos, and presentations
- Developing knowledge and skills in order to take on more responsibilities, including developing survey design and creating client presentations
The ideal candidate is a recent college graduate who is intellectually curious, passionate about progressive politics, and a strong team player who can keep up in a fast-paced work environment. All candidates must demonstrate keen attention to accuracy and detail. Good time management and communication skills are a must. The candidate should be comfortable with Microsoft Office, analyzing data and using formulas in Excel, and designing presentations, including charts, in PowerPoint. Spanish fluency is a plus. Prior political internships, a demonstrated interest in Democratic or progressive politics, and/or a statistical background are also assets.
