Jason McGrath

Jason McGrath, Senior Vice President at GBAO, specializes in providing polling and strategic advice to Democratic candidates and progressive organizations. With nearly two decades of experience in Democratic politics, McGrath has helped elect leaders at all levels of government from city councils to Governors’ mansions and the U.S. Senate.

Earlier this year, McGrath helped elect Reverend Raphael Warnock to the U.S. Senate from Georgia, making him the first Black Democratic Senator ever elected from the South. He works closely with the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and has helped elect several members the House, including Rep. Robin Kelly (IL-2), Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi (IL-8), and Rep. Cheri Bustos (IL-17).

In 2019, McGrath served as a senior strategist to Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot in her historic campaign to become the first woman of color and openly gay person to lead the city, for which he was awarded the American Association of Political Consultants’ 2020 Campaign Excellence Award for Democratic Pollster of the Year.

He has also worked with a number of organizations across the country to help them achieve progressive policy goals and to elect Democrats, including the National Education Association, End Citizens’ United, SEIU, and With Honor.

Jason graduated from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service. In addition to his work with GBAO, McGrath is an adjunct professor at the University of Chicago’s Harris School of Public Policy where he is a member of SEIU Local 73. He lives in Chicago with his wife and two children.
